Site of Requirement Plans

Well, I’m THINKING (not deciding) to move The Site of Requirement to a paid host instead of the current free one (www.awardspace.com). Doing so would allow us to be even more innovative and such (I’ve had some really cool ideas lately…). The only problem is fundage ($$$). I managed to track down a host that’s relatively cheap and offers suitable bandwidth, databases, storage, etc. But still, It costs a bit. On the lighter side, I’m looking forward to getting a check from Adbrite (who powers the top Pay-Per-Click Ad on the Site of Requirement). It’s a start, but a while away from a year’s worth of hosting. I’m hoping someone will buy one of those Site of Requirement T-Shirts from the online store. We’d get about $2 from that. I suppose I’ll keep saving and waiting. Who knows, maybe I’ll get enough to pay for it in a couple of months. Remember: The more visitors The Site of Requirement gets, the more money we get. Some ads (normally images) are payed by CPM, which means Cost Per Thousand (M like in MegaByte or 1000 bytes sort of). That means they’re priced by the thousand pageviews. So supposing you had a CPM ad at $5 CPM (rather high for a real ad). You’d be payed $5/1000 or $0.005 per pageview. Not a lot, but if you get 1000 people visiting, that’s $5. It’s fun talking about the way ads optimally work. They don’t always, though. So keep visiting, and tell everyone you know who’s read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to try out www.siteofrequirement.com. About the T-Shirts: If you can afford it, go ahead and buy one. If you can’t, don’t bother. Really.
